Because I didn't read an email completely, I missed the fact that my Oral Exam was changed to Monday afternoon. Thankfully the faculty were understanding and will let me take the exam on Wednesday afternoon. I am extremely lucky and I promise to be more responsible with every email I receive. Here's hoping Wednesday goes well...
That's it. The essays are in the mailbox. The faculty now have a week to read my writings and grill me like a delicious grilled cheese. Mmm... Grilled Cheese.
A big thumbs up as the essays are now complete! Huzzaaaah! And now for a mini celebration (which includes a small beverage out of a wonderful town in Pennsylvania) as the oral exam is coming on November 28th.
Thank you, Coffee Pub. You provided me with coffee, a cranberry nut muffin, electricity (not to mention distracting internets) and I got through the rest of the questions. Take notice of the number of scores in the picture, all dedicated to just two composers. One question will get another look tomorrow to make sure I've answered it to the full extent of my lack-o-knowledge. Hopefully all will be complete in time for the Redskins v. Cowboys game.
The day started with All-You-Can-Eat pancakes (which due to time got limited to 4) and progressed into the writing of essays. One question completely answered. To quote Ben Folds "One down and 3.6 tomorrow and I'm outta here".
No progress to report yet. 5 working days left. Tomorrow will be major work as I have cleared out my schedule. First All-You-Can-Eat-Pancakes then work. For real.
I believe I lent my external hard drive (full of movies and tv shows) out to someone- but I don't remember to whom or why or when. If you know where my hard drive is, please shoot me a message. I miss the little guy...
It took a suitcase full-0-scores, but the short essays are complete. I've also been handed the analytical questions, to be turned in a week from tomorrow. They are hard but not impossible. I will continue this journey through the Muppet-Foot land of Preliminary exam!
Just like Beethoven Symphony No. 1, the prelims began with a dominant seventh in the key of "What the?" (shut yo mouth!). The analytical questions will now be handed down at the same time as the minor essays- tomorrow at 1 o'clock. One more sleepless night wondering what the future may hold. What pieces will they choose to expose me in my not-knowing-of-anything-and-lacking-musicality-and-never-getting-a-jobness?
The Exam begins tomorrow. I've been researching for months, studying hard, and even I've got the Redskins shirt and note cards- everything is in place. We shall see...
